MARIAH Carey is apparently desperate for a lucrative New Year's Eve deal, but it appears stars such as Kim Kardashian and Fergie are trumping her.

With less than a week to go, the newly svelte songstress' team was shopping over the past few days for a gig paying up to $500,000 at any venue in the United States and beyond.

The New York Post was told that Carey's team was also asking for a private jet to fly her and her entourage out of Aspen, where she's spending the holidays with her family.

A source said: "Mariah's management was looking for a very lucrative deal for her, but she'd sing only just a few songs. But there haven't yet been any takers."

It is not clear whether Carey's husband, Nick Cannon, would come as part of the package.

The source added: "While her team is fielding her offers, Mariah is happy spending the holidays with her twins and husband."

A rep for Carey denied the superstar had been actively looking for a deal, saying, "She's not doing any New Year events. She'll be in Aspen with her family."

Stars raking in big bucks to ring in 2012 include superstar DJ Tiesto, who has a multimillion-dollar deal with Las Vegas casino king Steve Wynn and will play at Haze.

Also in Las Vegas, Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie is earning about $100,000 for playing the new 1Oak at the Mirage Hotel and Casino.

Kim Kardashian will appear at Tao in Sin City as part of a larger deal worth up to $600,000 for multiple appearances.

Sean "Diddy" Combs had been in talk! s to per form at the opening of Hyde in Las Vegas but backed out of the deal and is throwing a private bash at his home on Miami's Star Island.

Katy Perry had also been asking for $250,000 for an Eve appearance, but with no performance. Big offers were reportedly thrown at Ashton Kutcher, but he declined them all.

Meanwhile, DJ Armin van Buuren will spin for $250,000 at Dubai's World Trade Centre.
