Simon Cowell has set his sights on Mariah Carey for the US X Factor after sacking half the panel and the host.

The bloodbath emerged yesterday as Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones were axed amid lacklustre launch ratings for the show.
Now Cowell, 52, is trying again to woo Mariah, 41, who was unable to take part last year having just given birth.
At the time, Cowell said: I adore Mariah, I love her to bits.
