Mariah Carey: Whitney Houston's funeral was a class act

Mariah Carey said that Whitney Houston's funeral at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday was classy.

"I'm almost incapable of talking about this still. It's very heavy emotionally," Carey said on "Good Morning America" on Wednesday. "[The service] was gorgeous. Such a class act. The way she went out and the way family dealt with it, I was very moved."

Carey and Houston collaborated on the 1998 song "When You Believe," which was featured in the DreamWorks animated feature "The Prince of Egypt."

"I don't think people could ever understand our relationship," Carey continued. "There was always this supposed rivalry in the beginning and then we did the duet and we became friends. I saw her toward the end. I loved her. We all loved her... May she rest in peace."

Alicia Keys and Stevie Wonder were among those who performed at the service. Speakers included Kevin Costner, Tyler Perry, music mogul Clive Davis, who helped launch her career and Cece Winans, a gospel singer who is also the godmother of Houston's 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina. Houston was pronounced dead at age 48 at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California on February 11, a day before the 2012 Grammy Awards.

Carey also opened up about her husband Nick Cannon's recent health scares. The actor stepped down as host of his New York radio show "Rollin'" last week a! fter doc tors found blood clots in his lungs.

In January, Cannon, who also hosts the NBC show "America's Got Talent" was hospitalized in Aspen, Colorado for what Carey called a "mild kidney failure." It is unclear if the ailments are related.

"We didn't know how big a deal it was at that moment," she said of Cannon's health scare. "It was a gradual thing. We ended up in a couple hospitals this year already."

"The best thing I think was the choice that he made to leave the radio show and just focus on 'America's Got Talent' and 'Up All Night,'" Carey said. "The thing is, he's a young healthy person. It's about changing the lifestyle... and just an awareness of what can really happen to you no matter how young or in great shape you are... I think, like he always does, he's going to turn something that happened into a positive thing."

Carey, 41, and Cannon, 31, wed in April 2009. The pair became parents to healthy twins Monroe and Moroccan, who also go by "Roc and Roe," in April 2011 via Caesarean section. The date also marked the couple's second wedding anniversary.

Carey debuted a slim figure in November, becoming the face of the Jenny Craig diet program. She also showed off her curves in the December debut of the revamped "All I Want For Christmas" video, which featured Justin Bieber.
