Mariah Carey Breaks Down In Tears On New American Idol Promo

With the premiere of the new season of American Idol just a few months away, a new promo for the show has been released and it features Mariah Carey shedding tears...

No, the American Idol bosses didn't decide to feature Mariah and Nicki Minaj's feud. Instead Mariah was filmed crying tears of joy, after listening to a talented hopeful sing in front of her.

Crediting the unnamed hopeful for his performance, the promo trailer sees Mariah telling him: "Don't make me cry", before adding:

"I felt every word you sang."

However, her praise doesn't stop there as she is then seem telling another hopeful: "I know that people are going to love you."

The trailer also features Mariah talking about how she got into the music industry. Facing the cameras, Mariah says: "I always sang, and I always wrote. Its just about having that ambition. When I see that, (I think) that person has it. You really cant let go of your dreams."

As American Idol prepares to return to the small screen in January, we can be assured that all will be well between Nicki and Mariah after the 'Pound The Alarm' singer told MTV recently: "We've been fine."
