THE battle of American Idol divas Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj was brought on to Australian turf last week with the press release announcing the multi-octave pop queen's sold-out Sydney show.

Carey's concert at Allphones Arena on January 3 reportedly shipped all available tickets in four minutes and the presser featured a not-so-subtle swipe at the status of Minaj's upcoming Pink Friday Reloaded arena tour.

"Swedish House Mafia sold out their last ever Sydney show within the hour, JLo sold out in 'quick succession' and fellow American Idol diva Nicki Minaj still has tickets on sale but global superstar Mariah Carey sold out in Sydney in four minutes," the statement read.

Minaj kicks off her second Australian tour this year.
