American Idolis the center of attention again, but this time, it has nothing to do with vocal talent. Now that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler have been firedstepped down, every celeb from Katy Perry to Charlie Sheen has been named as a possible replacement. But one of the speculated new judges just might actually end up on the panel! Keep reading for the scoop!
Nick Cannon has insisted that American Idolis unable to afford to pay for the presence of Mariah Carey, his lovely wife. When asked whether the singer could end up as JLos replacement, he shrugged, saying that the show would have to pony up $40 million, or twice Jennifer Lopezs salary. He later amended his suggestion, raising the ante to a cool $100 million. Mariah Carey must have differing ideas as to what constitutes an acceptable salary, though, because she is reportedly in talks with the head honchos at American Idol. The negotiations apparently started around $12 million (same as they did f! or JLo) and, according to one source, have now escalated to the point that Mariah Careys expected salary is on par with that of Jennifer Lopez.
Mariah Carey could prove a savior for longtime judge Randy Jackson, who also seems to be a possibility for the chopping block. Jackson would probably remain on the show if Mariah Carey came on board, as the two have worked together extensively in the past. The other spot is still up for grabs, although FOX has yet to officially confirm Jennifer Lopezs exit.
