Mariah Carey considered to be next "American Idol" judge
American Idol lost judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez this week and needs to fill their places quickly because the 12th season is right around the corner. Show producers are reaching out to Mariah Carey along with others to replace the two.
This may be a good opportunity for Mariah, seeing that she is a legend in the music business. Her wisdom can be very beneficial to prospective contestants.
However, nothing is set in stone yet. Sources from US Weekly stated that They were in serious talks with Mariah and its very close to being a done deal, according to Enstarz.
Other names that were considered for the judging slots included: Katy Perry, Fergie, Adam Lambert and Miley Cyrus.
Perry shut down speculations of her joining AI when she told theHollywood Reporter, People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved, and its not right for me yet.
It was also reported that Randy Jackson, who has been an AI host since the beginning, may go onto mentoring instead.
Paula Abdul was the first original judge to leave Idol in 2009. Since then, there have been a number of judges throughout the seasons.
