Football games this season are about to get some music star power.
Itll all start at the first game of the NFL season, on Wednesday, Sept. 5, when Mariah Carey and No Doubt will perform a live pre-game show at Rockefeller Plaza. The hour-long show will air at 7:30 p.m. EST on NBC before the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys go head-to-head at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
No Doubt will be following up on another engagement with the NFL they performed at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2003.
Meanwhile, Cee Lo Green is taking over the intro to NFL Networks Thursday Night Football. Hes recording a song called I Love Football to the tune of the Ramones Blitzkrieg Bop. The hip-hop singer is adding a crowd-sourcing element to the song: Fans are invited to submit videos of themselves singing along to the chorus of the new Fanthem as Green has dubbed it. Each week, the show will open with a 90-second video clip composed of these videos.
The song will make its debut on Sept. 13 ahead of that nights Chicago Bears-Green Bay Packers game.
