Whitney Houston will leave a lasting legacy.

After the world learned about the death of Whitney Houston on February 11, many fans expressed their upset about the sad news. The positive effect she's had on those around her and on the music industry as a whole has become even more apparent over the past couple of days. What have some celebs in the entertainment industry been saying about her passing?

Clive Davis

The music producer discovered the singer when she was just a teenager and became her mentor. His pre-Grammy party on February 11 turned into a tribute dedicated to her life and memory . He addressed the crowd and gave a heartfelt and tearful speech in which he said "I am personally devastated by the loss of someone who has meant so much to me for so many years. Whitney was so full of life." He also added "Whitney was a beautiful person and she had a talent beyond compare. She graced this stage with her regal presence so many times, giving so many performances here over the years. So, simply put, Whitney would have wanted the music to go on."

Tony Bennett

When the 85-year-old crooner took the stage as the first performer of the evening at Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party, he called for legalizing drugs like Amsterdam has done, especially in the wake of losing Houston and other big name stars including Amy Winehouse and Michae! l Jackso n.

Celebs on Twitter

Many celebs took to Twitter to express their upset and devastation over the loss of the legendary singer. Singer Ricky Martin tweeted " RIP Whitney Houston. Sending my love and deepest condolences to her family and friends. Fly Whitney Fly." Justin Bieber also tweeted "Just heard the news. so crazy. One of the GREATEST VOICES EVER just passed. RIP Whitney Houston. My prayers go out to her friends and family." Jessica Simpson was just one of the many who were inspired by the late singer's voice. She tweeted "I found my voice singing Whitney Houston's music. Today I lost my idol."

Mariah Carey, herself considered a musical legend, is one of the singers whose voice has been compared to Houston's. She tweeted " Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston." In a second tweet she said "My heartfelt condolences to Whitney's family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world." In a third posting, which was done around the same time as the previous two, she tweeted "She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth."

As of Sunday evening, the iTunes charts have been filling up with her singles including "I Will Always Love You" at number 3, "I Wanna Dance" at number 18 and "How Will I Know" at number 27.
