Mariah Carey Speaks Out About American Idol Feud With Nicki Minaj: 'The Fighting Is What It Is'

It's common knowledge that American Idol judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj don't see eye to eye and Mariah has now spoken out about the pair's constant arguments, saying 'it is what it is.'

In an interview with dnaindia.com, the diva said, This is a very passionate panel. There are a lot of strong personalities. The fighting is what it is. This is American Idol. It is bigger than some stupid trumped-up thing. It is about the next superstar. The whole thing is convoluted. It is a distraction from the show and the contestants.

The two stars sit on the judges panel alongside Keither Urban and Randy Jackson, but even the two males apparently fail to keep the peace between the catty pair.

Nicki recently stated the obvious, claiming that she didn't think that Mariah liked her and if sources are anything to go by, we think you might be correct Nicki!

"Whenever Nicki has something to say in meetings, Mariah completely ignore her and stares into space," an insider told Heat magazine.

"It's classic passive-aggressive behaviour and it's driving Nicki mad. When Nicki speaks, Mariah t! urns her head to the side and goes off in her own little world."

After their argument, there were even allegations that Nicki had threatened to shoot Mariah, but the younger star dismissed them, although Mariah admitted hiring extra security.

While the two appear to have called a kind of truce while promoting the show, TV bosses are apparently concerned it can't last.

And whilst Mariah deals with the feud by pretending it isn't happening, Nicki seems to find it trickier to keep her true feelings under wraps.

"While Mariah is very calm, Nicki is very hot-headed and passionate and there's no telling what she might do if Mariah continues," the source added.
