Mariah Carey insists big screens be turned off while she takes the stage at Art For Life

Mariah Carey was not ready for her close-up at Russell Simmons Art for Life benefit at his East Hampton home Saturday. The pop diva demanded the big screens be switched off when she appeared onstage. Carey, who recently signed on as a judge for American Idol for a reported $18 million, wanted to avoid close-ups of her face, says a source, adding that the screens were switched off during her appearance, then turned back on when she left the stage. Reps for the event insisted, Mariah looked stunning. Soledad OBrien, Star Jon es and Grant Hill attended the event that raised $2 million. Anita Bak er, Salt-n-Pepa, Melanie Fiona and Diggy Simmons performed.
