If those rumours are true, Nicki Minaj looks pretty much set to take a place on the American Idol judging panel and is expected to cause a 'huge ratings spike'. However, it's now been revealed that this 'ratings spike' may have to wait to be confirmed, due to the star's global ad campaign with Pepsi. Oh dear!

The New York Post has reported that the 'Superbass' rapper's deal with Pepsi has caused a bit of a 'road block' in terms of signing the Idol deal, which means that the only American Idol judge confirmed is Mariah Carey.

And recent reports have further suggested that the pair may or may not get along, both being rather feisty females, but either way we're pretty sure that combined, they'll get those ratings back where they belong!

According to MTV, Nicki Minaj's reps are keen to get around the soft drink issue, with reports saying that American Idol execs want to introduce their new judge asap. And we can't blame them!

Sources told the Post that producers want to see that drama between Nicki and Mariah Carey. It'll make for good TV."

Especially seeing as Mariah is reported to 'not want Nicki beside her on the judging panel' and instead wants her rocker pal Lenny Kravitz, Hollywoodlife reports.

"Mariah would love to have her dear friend Lenny Kravitz sit next to her on the American Idol judge panel. She thinks he would be the perfect choice because he is extremely talented and knows music inside and out.

Nicki on the other hand isnt established enough to qualify as a judge. Mariah wants a panel of bright, inspirational and constructive judges", the insider continued.

"Not some freak show! Mariah thin! ks Nicki will just be a distraction and it will all be about her and her outrageous behaviour."
