Mariah Carey, Jimmy Fallon perform duet of her Christmas song (Video)

Jimmy Fallon and the Roots got into the holiday spirit on his NBC talk show "Late Night" on Tuesday night with guest singer Mariah Carey, who brought with her a touch of nostalgia.

Wearing a red gown with white, glittering embellishments around her shoulders and red platform heels, the pop star and new co-judge of FOX's "American Idol" sang an acoustic version of her 1994 hit "All I Want For Christmas Is You."

The band members and Fallon provided backup vocals and played on instruments such as a rainbow-colored child's xylophone, a ukulele, a tambourine and a blue recorder. Four children also joined popped in - Muppet-style.

The original song, which has more of a rock-pop sound, was featured on Carey's 1994 album "Merry Christmas." More than four million copies of the record have been sold in the United States. She released a second holiday album, "Merry Christmas II," in November 2010 and 500,000 units have been sold domestically.

Carey released a duet of "All I Want For Christmas Is You" with teen pop star Justin Bieber in 2011.

In November, another acclaimed pop singer and singing competition series judge, Christina Aguilera, also performed with Fallon and the roots on the "Late Night" program.

The band members played on instruments made out of office supplies, such as rubber bands, tissue boxes, scissors, tape and a computer keyboard. Aguilera, a coach on NBC's "The Voice," also played along, using a stapler while singing her new song "Your Body," off of her seventh studio album "Lotus," which was released on November 9.
