Hot on the heels of Barack Obama's re-election victory last night, Mariah Carey has released a song in tribute to the President, 'Bring It On Home.'

The 42-year-old watched with the rest of the nation last night as Obama was re-elected into the White House for another four years, defeating the Republicans.

Mariah wrote the soulful/gospel-inspired track 'Bring It On Home' especially for Obama's presidential campaign and performed it during a rally earlier this year, and the official version has now been released by websiteGlobal 14.

"Congratulations to our beloved President Barack Obama, our spectacular First Lady Michelle Obama & the adorable Malia & Sasha. We love you!" Mariah tweeted after.

"INCREDIBLE SPEECH!!!!!! Watching in a room full of diverse people-all truly moved. Thank you America for President Obama-4more yrs."

Obama and Mariah appear to have struck up a friendship recently after he defended the singer following her spat with Nicki Minaj on American Idol.

"I think they are going to be able to sort it out. I am confident," Obama said last month.

"I am all about bringing people together, working for the same cause. I think both outstanding artists are going to be able to make sure that they're moving forward and not going backwards."

Clearly a fan of the Grammy award-winning singer, Obama then went on to describe Mariah as a "wonderful lady."
