Mariah Carey Tapped For Two OPI Nail Polish Collections

Yeah that's right, Mariah Carey doesn't get just ONE OPI nail polish collection like regular celebs like Katy Perry or Nicki Minaj, no. The reigning queen of octave-spanning-soul has just signed with the nail polish giant for two collections, the first debuting in January of 2013, and the second later that year. While we thought that the "All I Want For Christmas Is You" singer would surely be releasing a holiday collection, it's not so, but we're sure her polishes will warm our chilly mid-winter fingers in January nonetheless. Indeed, this is going to be a pretty huge year for Mariah and her fans. What with a new album in the works (we suspect), teased by her recent single "Triumphant (Get 'em)," and her seat at the American Idol judges table, so it's only natural that more collaborations and collections would be in the works. We're not going to call it a comeback because Mariah never went away, but it's been awhile since she was out in such force. She had not just one but two babies last year though (are we sensing a pattern), so her fans can handle the wait.

While very little information has been released about either collection, so we don't yet know how many colors will be included in the lines, or whether there will be a theme associated with either. WWD has the scoop from OPI executive vice president and creative director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann who said of Mariah, shes classic, but she can be edgy at certain times. Shes very elegant. She looked beautiful. She goes on to explain why she personally thought Mariah was a good fit for the collection, saying, it appeals to me also that shes a mom. Shes a working woman and then she has this very glitzy, glamour side to her. We also agree that Mariah is an excellent fit for OPI, and can't wait to hear more as details of the collections emerge.
