Mariah Carey Wants Lenny Kravitz To Join American Idol

Mariah Carey might be the newest American Idoldiva (and a highly-paid one at that!) but that doesnt mean she gets to determine who makes up the rest of the judging panel. Or does she? Rumor has it that Mariah is pushing to have friend and fellow musician Lenny Kravitz join the show in some capacity. Will she get her way?

The rumors continue to fly regarding the American Idoljudging panel. Apparently, Keith Urbans on for next season and Nicki Minaj has been considered for the all-important job. New judge Mariah Carey apparently isnt a big fan of either of these musicians, reportedly predicting that Nicki Minajs presence would turn Idolinto a freak show. Ouch!

In her ideal world, the Mariah Careys next-door neighbor on the judging panel would be fellow singer Lenny Kravitz. One source told Hollywood Lifethat Mariah would ! prefer a panel chock full of talented individuals. Such a panel, naturally, would include the one and only Lenny Kravitz! Mariah would love to have her dear friend Lenny Kravitz sit next to her on the American Idol judge panel. She thinks he would be the perfect choice because he is extremely talented and knows music inside and out.

We think Mariah Carey might have a point about Nicki Minaj. While the term freak show may be a bit strong, Nicki might not have the right vibe for American Idol.Yes, Idolis desperately trying to appeal to a younger demographic, but given some viewersadamantopposition to the singer-rapper, this move might only scare fans away. But will Lenny fit the bill? Its hard to say.
