Mariah Carey could 'legally' walk away from judging 'American Idol', reports state

New reports suggest that American Idol judge Mariah Carey would be allowed to walk away from her position as judge after the heated exchange of words between her and Nicki Minaj.

Contact Music reports that Carey could potentially walk away from the judging table after the explosive blowup which shows Minaj saying she is going to hit the Fantasy singer.

Later, Carey told journalist Barbara Walters that she fears Minaj would shoot her after production team overheard the Starship singer mentioning if she had a gun she would shoot her.

According to Contact Music, Adii Law Group notes, FOX will not be able to force either Minaj or Carey to stick with the program against their will."
Adii adds, She can claim a legitimate concern about her safety or at least an inability to fully focus on her role as a judge as a result of this threat. Minaj, on the other hand, will likely face a lawsuit if she quits the program for having brought on the outcome.

In addition, Minaj could be fired for the backlash she caused during the audition process, despite her contract agreement. Fox has thus far refused to comment.
